I began my teaching career at Tupelo High School in 1993, where I taught 9-12 grade public speaking, and was the the Debate club sponsor. Next, I was  a family/children's therapist with Region III Mental Health Services in Tupelo, Mississippi. I spent the next twelve years as a professional school counselor in elementary, middle, and high school. I have worked in both private and public schools, as well as in therapeutic settings.

Prior to joining the staff at SMS as 7th grade Counselor in 2015, I worked at DCAC/Magnolia for five years as a Special Education teacher. I have been teaching Special Education since 2009.

My name is Dani Pinkston and I am from Pearl, Mississippi. (Go Pirates!)  I have lived in DeSoto County since 2001.  I have 3 children; two boys and one girl. One of my boys is a special needs student who has Asperger's Syndrome.  I understand the challenges a special needs family encounters and the obstacles faced daily in life on a personal as well as a professional level.

I have been both a teacher and a school counselor as well as a mental health counselor.  I am very excited to be a Southaven Middle School Charger! Please feel free to contact me by phone or email.  I am dedicated to helping make your child's middle school experience the best it can be.
