Welcome to Southaven Middle School! I am very excited to be the principal of this amazing school. I look forward to serving the students, parents, and teachers of Southaven Middle School.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Management at The University of Mississippi in May of 2002. I received my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership – Principal Track at Arkansas State University in 2013.

I began my teaching career at Kate Griffin  Middle School during the 2002-2003 school year. The next year I moved to Holly Springs Career Tech Center where I taught marketing.  I have spent the last 15 years teaching in the Special Education Department at various schools in DCS where I taught inclusion classes and coached football and track.

Dr. Jeremiah Burks

Dr. Jeremiah Burks

Dr. Jeremiah Burks has been an educator for more than 25 years. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Delta State University. He later received a master's degree and specialist’s degree also from Delta State. He received his doctorate from Arkansas State University – Jonesboro in 2010.

Before becoming assistant principal at SMS, Mr. Burks was assistant principal at Horn Lake High School. Dr. Burks served as a lead teacher, assistant principal, principal, and central office administrator in school districts in both Mississippi and Tennessee.

Mrs. Lorie Davis

Mrs. Davis is a graduate of Olive Branch High School and the University of Mississippi. At Ole Miss, she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communicative Disorders and Special Education. She also earned her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Ole Miss in 2006. Mrs. Davis has 18 years of experience in Desoto County with 14 years as a Special Education Supervisor and Assistant Director of Special Education. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mrs. Davis taught special education at Olive Branch High School. 

Mrs. Elizabeth Hurst

Mrs. Elizabeth Hurst, Asst. Principal

Mrs. Elizabeth Hurst is from Olive Branch but currently resides in Memphis. She has a Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, both from the University of Mississippi.  Prior to becoming an administrator, Mrs. Hurst taught math at Olive Branch Middle School.  She is married to Thomas Hurst.

Mr. Ben Stigler

Mr. Stigler is from Senatobia, MS. He is married and has two children.  He attended Delta State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Education.  He also holds a master's degree from the University of Mississippi and a specialist's degree from Arkansas State University (both in Educational Leadership).  This is Mr. Stigler's 17th year working in education, 10th year in school administration, and 8th year with DCS.  He is excited to be a part of Southaven Middle.
